Isabella Banks Markell
East River
Born 1891 in Superior, WI, Markell worked largely in New York City where she died in 1980. She painted and made prints of many scenes of the East River.
Markell studied in France at the Fontainebleau in 1930, then at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts. State side again, she studied at the Maryland Institute in 1933, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1935.
