Description
This piece is identifiable as a Maasai mask because of its hairstyle and it elongated ears. The horizontal lines and the triangular centerpiece of the hairstyle resemble the male Maasai soldiers braids and forehead ornaments, while the elongated ears are traditional Maasai body modification-although unlike on Massai figures, the length of the ears is not exaggerated on this mask, but reflect accurately the usual length of these stretched-out features.
