Bronze bust of Albert "A. L." Weiser smiling, wearing suit jacket, shirt and tie.

Inscription

Plaque: Albert "A.L." Weiser / Basketball coach at Drury College for 31 seasons, 1927 to 1958, with a 313-256 record, his teams were 193-144 in MCAU play and captured the conference title three years on a row, 1936-38. Under Weiser, Drury was in the national tournament (NAIA) in 1938, '46 and '58. He was elected to the Helms Hall of Fame and received the NAIA Award of Merit. A graduate of Capital and Drake Universities, he was a high school coach in Iowa and Wisconsin before coming to Springfield as coach at Senior High School. Drury's Board of Trustees voted to rename the school's 43-year-old gymnasium in his honor Feb. 20, 1971 and the building was dedicated as Weiser Gymnasium on May 22, 1971.
