British American, 1918-2003. Born in Shoeburyness, England in 1918, attended the Slade School of Fine Art on full scholarship from 1937-1939. Browning drew maps for the Royal Air Force during WWII, then immigrated to NY in 1949 and became a US citizen in 1950. She taught at the Pratt Institute and the City University of New York.
